Pete Buttigieg, the little-known IN mayor who has risen to prominence IN the early stages of the 2020 Democratic presidential race, made his official campaign entrance Sunday by claiming the mantle of a youthful generation ready to reshape the country.

"We made it in 27 hours", said Joseph Leeper, a supporter from Arizona.

Lilly Jay, a survivor of sexual assault in college who came to the White House in 2014 as part of Vice President Joe Biden's It's On Us campaign, said in a new op-ed in Slate on Monday that she felt "duped" when she read of other women's allegations of inappropriate touching against Biden.

"Pete's a different kind of candidate and we want to build a different kind of campaign", said Mike Schmuhl, Buttigieg's campaign manager.

The mayor was profiled in a 2016 New York Times article titled "The First Gay President?".

In an emotional speech on Sunday, Buttigieg took another swipe at Pence.

No potential contender in the burgeoning Democratic field has seen as rapid a rise in the early stages of the campaign as Buttigieg, who has gone from obscure Midwestern politician to top-tier contender in a matter of weeks.

With a name that's challenging to pronounce (boot-edge-edge, or Buddha-judge as the candidate's husband has suggested), Buttigieg has been traveling through early primary and caucus states and sitting for just about any television interview he can find.

Haftar's forces in Libya to continue offensive to Tripoli
This year, he took Libya's south with its oilfields. "They also called on all forces to de-escalate and halt military activity". But they failed to detail enforcement mechanisms if the Libyan strongman refused to commit to a political solution.

Annise Parker, CEO of the LGBTQ Victory Fund, was in South Bend for the announcement and said in a statement Buttigieg "shattered a lavender ceiling once thought unbreakable, becoming the first openly LGBTQ Democratic presidential candidate in American history and our first real shot at the Oval Office". "April 15, 2019, will be the 10th year, so I think you will see them".

Buttigieg will return this week to Iowa and New Hampshire, which hold the nation's first nominating contests, to campaign as a full-fledged candidate now being taken more seriously.

A Rhodes scholar who speaks seven languages, Buttigieg has sold himself as Trump's polar opposite.

The bottom line: The 2020 presidential election could turn on the question of health care, and with another iteration of his Medicare-for-All plan, Sanders has underscored his position as the leading progressive in the race for the Democratic nomination.

Senator Sanders, who has repeatedly slammed "millionaires" and "billionaires" and has vowed to implement various Socialist policies such as wealth distribution, government-run healthcare, and more, is one of the wealthiest members of the United States Senate. Steve Adler, the mayor of Austin, Texas, endorsed him and said it seemed as though "the world is arriving in South Bend".

"We are here to say that there is a lot more to safety and security than putting up a wall from sea to shining sea", Buttigieg said on Sunday.

"Change is coming, ready or not", Buttigieg told the crowd.

But Buttigieg must still overcome the perception that his youth and thin resume as mayor of a town of just 100,000 leaves him lacking the experience necessary for the presidency.

SpaceX Readies First Falcon Heavy Launch for Paying Customer
Lockheed Martin built the satellite, along with a second one, for Arabsat as part of a batch of contracts worth $650 million. When the rocket flew a year ago , its two side boosters made synchronized landings on side-by-side ground pads in Florida.

Mayors from Dayton, Ohio, West Sacramento, California, and Austin, Texas, introduced Buttigeig and spoke to the importance of local leadership.

At 37 years old, Buttigieg is only a few years older than the age requirement to be commander in chief, which is 35.

South Bend residents Angie Faccenda and her husband Phil have known Buttigieg personally since he ran for state treasurer nine years ago.

"And that's certainly helped", said Jack Colwell, a long time columnist for the South Bend Tribune.

The couple snapped a selfie in front of the Pete 2020 backdrop as they waited for the program to begin.

During the launch, the mayor touched upon a number of liberal talking points such as racial justice, voting rights and health care reform, as well as his faith and marriage to Chasten Buttigieg.

"This is a government takeover", she said.

Standing in a building that was once a symbol of his city's decline, Buttigieg told the crowd how running for office is an act of hope.
