Mueller report finds no evidence Trump colluded with Russia

Mueller report doesn't conclude Trump committed a crime, nor does it exonerate him

US President Donald Trump came out all guns blazing against his critics after an investigation into charges of colluding with Russians during the presidential campaign appeared to give him a clean chit.

Summarizing Mueller's findings, Barr said no Trump campaign official was involved in Russian conspiracies in 2016 to hack Democratic computers and flood social media with disinformation to harm Trump's Democratic election rival Hillary Clinton.

But the four-page summary fell short of giving the White House the "complete and total exoneration" the president, his lawyers and political allies claimed after Attorney General William Barr released it to lawmakers and the public.

"While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him", he wrote, according to the Justice Department summary sent to Congress.

Likewise, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer said Mr.

The report vindicated Mr. Trump on the core question - collusion with foreigners to affect a US election - so Democrats should focus on bipartisan policy-making, GOP lawmakers and party operatives said.

Barr's letter marked the conclusion of the disturbing investigation into allegations that Trump's election campaign coordinated and colluded with Russians to skew the 2016 vote so the billionaire real estate magnate would win.

North Korea withdraws from inter-Korea liaison office
There have also been reports of renewed activity at a North Korean nuclear test site, which have been condemned by Donald Trump . The North's Unification Ministry said Pyongyang "will not mind the South remaining" in the liaison office.

"There was no obstruction ... and it was a complete and total exoneration", Trump said in brief remarks as he left his Mar-a-Lago resort. "This was an illegal take-down that failed and hopefully somebody is going to be looking at the other side", he said. But Mueller's conclusion on obstruction was not almost so clear-cut. "Nothing different from what President@realDonaldTrump has been saying for the past TWO YEARS!"

Emboldened and angry, the President can now proceed with his administration without the distraction of new search warrants and indictments by Mr Mueller's team or the worry that the special counsel might charge Mr Trump's family members or even uncover a smoking gun that would prove that his campaign collaborated with the Russian government to elect him in 2016.

Nadler noted that Barr "made a decision" to not charge the President with obstruction of justice "in under 48 hours".

Pelosi and Schumer on Sunday accused Barr, who previously served as attorney general from 1991 to 1993, of neither being a "neutral observer" nor in a position "to make objective determinations about the report", citing Barr's "public record of bias" against the Russian Federation investigation.

Facing pressure from the base to dig deeper into Trump's personal and professional issues, Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are mounting their own far-reaching congressional probes into the Republican president before and after he took office.

Given the report, Democrats seemed more likely to focus on their ongoing investigations, calls for transparency and frustrations with Barr, rather than engaging with the talk of impeachment that has been amplified on Pelosi's left flank.

Cummings: Ivanka Trump not preserving all official email
The allegations from Democrats that some of Trump's closest confidants - as well as former officials Steve Bannon and K.T. In a statement, White House Counsel spokesman Steven Groves confirmed the administration received Cummings' letter.

Yet, while Democrats focused on the obstruction piece, Barr's summary report dealt their investigative efforts an undeniable blow by concluding that Trump's campaign never conspired with Russian Federation.

Nearby, 60-year-old Nora Burd said none of the president's supporters ever second guessed him.

Before taking the helm of the Justice Department last month, Barr had written critically of the Mueller probe and called the investigation of Trump for possible obstruction of justice "fatally flawed".

The absence of such evidence was "not determinative", Barr said, but "bears upon the President's intent with respect to obstruction".

Jaso said the fact that Barr made the determination in concert with Rosenstein provides Barr with political cover.

Jennifer Rodgers, a former federal prosecutor in the Southern District of NY, said it's unlikely a judge would allow that because no law expressly forbids charges against a sitting president.

But disproving or ruling out the possibility that someone committed a crime is the job of defense attorneys - not federal prosecutors or a special counsel. The president's former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, implicated him in campaign finance violations when he pleaded guilty a year ago.
