A YouTube spokesperson sent a statement to TechCrunch that said "Any content - including comments - that endangers minors is abhorrent and we have clear policies prohibiting this on YouTube".
Remember YouTube's parody problem previous year? She said numerous kids she treats in the ER list videos on YouTube as a method used to learn destructive behaviors and self-harm techniques. "Every quarter we remove millions of videos and channels that violate our policies and we remove the majority of these videos before they have any views". "We have strict policies that govern what videos we allow ads to appear on, and videos that promote anti-vaccination content are a violation of those policies".
Those policies state that ads are not appropriate for YouTube videos that promote "harmful or unsafe acts that result in serious physical, emotional, or psychological injury", which includes anti-vaxxer content.
YouTube took action against the offending channels in the last 48 hours. The site reported that at least seven advertisers were unaware that their brands were being attached to this kind of content and despite the fact that YouTube's ad policies aren't new.
Nestle, Disney, AT&T, Hasbro and the creator of Fortnite have all reportedlypulled advertisements from Youtube following allegations of child abuse content being on the platform.

YouTube closed more than 400 channels from its database along with tens of millions of comments after receiving complaints from creators, users, and advertisers about child exploiting videos. "They're going to come back because YouTube offers uniquely attractive levels of audience targeting capability and audience engagement", says Schraeder. The team agreed to be aware of the problem and stated that they are working on ways to resolve the issue and keep viewers safe.
