'Good Chance,' Says Trump, I'll Declare National Emergency Declaration to Build Wall

Pelosi Calls for ‘Bipartisan Consensus’ on Border Security — Then Vows There Won’t Be ‘Any Wall Money’
Trump has said he has to have a wall for border security.
Trump's comments come after Pelosi declared unequivocally Thursday afternoon, "there's not going to be any wall money in the legislation".
"I don't want to say", Trump told a reporter when asked directly if he intends to declare a national emergency. "We're negotiating very tough prices, we've designed a much better looking wall that is also actually a better wall, which is actually an interesting combination - it's far more lovely and it's better - it's much more protective", he continued.
"I think there's a good chance that we'll have to do that", Trump added, referring to the possibility of an emergency.
At least six GOP Senators are reportedly against declaring a national emergency, but the president could veto a disapproval resolution if one was sent to his desk.
"Well, I think that she was very rigid - which I would expect - but I think she is very bad for our country", Trump responded.
Although the Democrats continue to refuse to grant the president the $5.7bn in border wall funding he was requesting, he agreed to a bill that funds the U.S. government until 15 February, thus enabling almost 800,000 employees to return to work and receive delayed payment. "So they come into areas where you don't have the barriers", Trump said. "And when I hear them talking about the fact that walls are immoral and walls don't work - they know they work", he told reporters earlier in the day. "And this really is an invasion of our country by human traffickers".
The House speaker said "of course" she'd bring the vote to the floor if the conference committee comes out with a "bipartisan consensus", however, she didn't seem to compromise on funding for a wall. "On a political basis, what she's doing is - I actually think it's bad politics - but much more importantly it's very bad for our country".
"Together we can break decades of political stalemate", Trump plans to say, according to an excerpt of his prepared remarks offered by a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
"I think some of their goals are aligned but the methods to get there might be different", said Sen.
"We're building the wall". The official said he was instructed not to say whether any other specific countries would be mentioned. Trump said his aversion to letting his son play football is because "it's a unsafe sport and I think it's really tough".
