And not everyone is happy about it - including Tomic.

"... (It ranged from) blackmail, threats and physical (threats), yeah".

In a tit-for-tat that shows no sign of slowing, Tomic has returned serve.

"I have never threatened his family", Tomic told News Corp Australia.

"I've got nothing to do with your family and I don't care what's wrong with you, you liar".

On Friday, Tomic admitted to reports he threatened to punch Hewitt back in 2017, but refuted claims he ever threatened Hewitt's family.

And not everyone was happy at Hewitt's spotlight-stealing interview, including his former coach Roger Rasheed. "No (I'm not getting a percentage of their income)", he said. Lleyton didn't need to. Don't worry - Lleyton's legacy and tennis speaks for itself. He's playing Davis Cup - I thought he was retired. Yeah (they've stopped). I don't think he's got my number anymore, hopefully.

"The only reason I played in Austria is because we had a lot of guys unavailable".

Speaking after being knocked out of the doubles on Thursday night, Hewitt made some more revelations about his relationship with Tomic.

"No. No. I think the threats that I've received, for me and my family".

"I think the threats that I've received for me and my family that I've had for a year and a half now..."

Hewitt said he didn't feel threatened by Tomic's abuse but was frustrated after trying to help the world No.88 and one-time No.17. He became Davis Cup captain in 2016, soon after retiring from singles.

"Since then, I haven't had anything to do with Bernie..." He still kept making the wrong mistakes. And, to make matters worse, few decent results from the senior players.

"It's not the way you want to go about things, so absolutely something needs to be done".
