Pep Guardiola has rejected speculation linking Manchester City with Wolves playmaker Ruben Neves by insisting he would never pay £100m for a holding midfielder.

The Belgium midfielder was withdrawn after less than an hour in City's 9-0 rout of the League One side, which all but secured their spot in the EFL Cup final.

Guardiola said: 'A month ago I read about Ruben Neves - £100m! That is not going to happen.

"We have a limit and cannot spend more so that's why we need to be careful with the players and try next season to see what we can do to improve".

Neves, whose Wolves side visit the Etihad on Monday, tends to play as one of two holding midfielders, whereas Fernandinho performs that role on his own in the City line-up.

Shutdown restricting visits, cleaning at national parks
And for those planning a visit there, Lost Horse Mine Road and Rattlesnake Canyon are also closed effective immediately. Many National Parks have resorted to partial road closures to help curtail the number of users entering remote areas.

"We realised when we played the EFL (English Football League) Cup and the first away game how complicated it would be", said Guardiola of the threat posed by high-flyers Wolves.

"But I'm not talking about the case of the Ajax player [Frenkie De Jong] because he is an Ajax player. I don't talk about players not here, never did and never will".

The 33-year-old Brazilian was badly missed as City suffered costly back-to-back defeats to Crystal Palace and Leicester over Christmas.

"It's not easy to find the specific quality of the players", said Guardiola. He knows the Premier League, after three years together here, he knows everything and that's so important.

Tottenham's struggles in the midfield department have been well documented this season, with a host of key midfielders missing out due to frequent injuries over the course of the season. "He'll be 34 and he can not play every few days".

Trump Says He Won't Declare a National Emergency...For Now
Meadows, who speaks frequently with Trump, sees the emergency declaration as the "last tool" the president has. Defense Department officials discussed the plan with Trump Thursday as he traveled to the southern border.

But with City still fighting for silverware on four fronts, the Catalan is happy to rely on John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan until the end of the season.

"Sergio after Liverpool was sick", Guardiola added. He had more space than usual but he was so clever. In fact, he has averaged 80 passes this season with an incredible accuracy of 92%.

"There are many clubs in the world, many holding midfielders in the world, and a lot of them can play here. He's a fantastic player".

"I don't know what happened, he didn't speak to me, so I don't know what happened", said the City boss.
