‘Never been more depressed’: Trump kills Graham effort to end shutdown

Trump cancels Davos trip over partial govt. shutdown

The White House has directed the Army Corps of Engineers to comb through its budget, including $13.9 billion in emergency funds that Congress earmarked a year ago, to see what money could be diverted to the wall as part of a declaration.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) seemed to prove some of these fears valid in a Friday tweet, listing a number of non-wall issues he considers national emergencies, including gun violence and climate change.

Today marks the 21st day of the partial shutdown that started days before Christmas over a standoff between President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats over funding for the President's long-promised border wall. Trump, they argue, could tell backers that he was doing all he could to fight for the wall, even if his order were held up or blocked in court.

Bengals Part Ways With Marvin Lewis
Miami didn't see enough progress, so it made a decision to dump Gase after his three seasons at the helm. The 60-year-old Lewis coached the Bengals for 16 seasons and had a 131-122-3 record with them.

"If this doesn't work out, probably I will do it", Trump said Thursday morning, according to The Hill.

The president said he continues to weigh the possibility of declaring a national emergency as a way to circumvent Congress and have the military construct the border wall, but Trump has yet to make a final decision on whether to follow through with that. "Time for President @realDonaldTrump to use emergency powers to build Wall/Barrier".

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer forcefully rebutted the President in a speech of their own Tuesday where Pelosi accused Trump of "holding the American people hostage" to his demands. Right now, barriers blanket about one-third of the 1,954-mile (3,145-kilometer) border with Mexico. Trump said Thursday that his lawyers have told him he has the "absolute right".

Ex-TFC striker Defoe to join Rangers
Bournemouth have agreed to let Jermain Defoe join Rangers on an 18-month loan deal, according to Sky Sports News . Since taking charge at Ibrox, Gerrard has signed 10 players on permanent deals and secured five loan deals.

Defense Department officials discussed the plan with Trump Thursday as he traveled to the southern border.

Rep. Mike Simpson of Idaho, a top Republican on the Appropriations Committee, said he has been hearing from lawmakers in recent days concerned that Army Corps projects in their states could be canceled or postponed.

Pelosi has not said how House Democrats would respond to Trump declaring a national emergency, but she predicted a bipartisan rejection of an attempt by the White House to skirt Congress's power.
