Chrissy Teigen Calls Out Kim Kardashian For Being The Last Person To Watch ‘Bird Box’
While it's received polarizing reception, it did spark hilarious memes as well as a viral Bird Box challenge which caught momentum over social media.
To be fair, the "Bird Box Challenge" does seem to be kind of a thing.
When Netflix got wind of the challenge, it issued the now nearly standard disclaimer/warning, telling people not to participate for safety's sake. The streaming giant took to their Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to implore viewers to exercise appropriate discretion and to "not end up in the hospital due to memes".
The holidays got creepy quick when Netflix released Bird Box, a Sandra Bullock horror film that imagines a world where everyone has to go around wearing blindfolds to protect themselves from a killer force.
Note that Netflix didn't try to discourage people from engaging in the #BirdBoxChallenge - only to be careful.
The film tells the story of a mother (Bullock) and her two children, named Boy and Girl, who are forced to wear blindfolds while they search for refuge in a world overrun by monsters that can drive people to kill themselves in a glance.

Where victims were found, yellow, orange and black body bags were laid out, and weeping relatives identified the dead. It said most victims were Indonesian tourists visiting beaches during the long weekend ahead of Christmas.
While some attempts have been risky - including one where a boy appears to fall down the stairs of a subway entrance - many have also been harmless imitation of scenes from the film.
In Bird Box, the Marjorie character has no choice but to be rough with her kids, especially considering it's a matter of life or death for her and her children.
Although Netflix was undoubtedly trying to be helpful (and ward off potential lawsuits), the post may have inspired someTwitter users to attempt the challenge.
