Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XR Sales Could be Banned in China, As Qualcomm Urges Chinese Courts To Act on

Apple to update iPhone software after threat of China ban

Apple claims that the ban applies to devices running iOS 11 and earlier, whereas their new devices have been updated to iOS 12. This software update is meant to address the patent issues with the iPhones.

In an attempt to comply with a Chinese court's recent ban on older iPhone models, Apple will issue a software update to iPhone units in China, according to Reuters.

Earlier this week, Qualcomm said a Chinese court had ordered a ban on sales of some older iPhone models for violating two of its patents, though intellectual property lawyers said the ban would likely take time to enforce.

On Monday, a statement from Qualcomm said the Fuzhou Intermediate People's Court had granted the United States chip maker's request for two preliminary injunctions against four subsidiaries of Apple, ordering them to immediately stop selling models from the iPhone 6S to iPhone X in China.

The U.S. International Trade Commission has also said that it plans to review a previous ruling stating that a ban on iPhone imports was not in the interests of the general public - even if in the event that Apple infringed on a Qualcomm patent.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm is pushing even harder on Apple, apparently emblazoned by the preliminary injunctions win this week. Apple has argued that its former supplier unfairly leverages its position as the biggest supplier of chips for smartphones to force payment of the fees.

Israeli Police Say Netanyahu Took Bribes in Bezeq Case, Too
Police are also recommending charges be brought against Elovitch and members of his family. Israeli law is unclear about whether an indicted prime minister would have to step down.

As for Apple's other iPhone models, sales of the iPhone XS are presumably in line with expectations.

Apparently, the chipset company thinks otherwise and now filed for an injunction of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR in China as the next step in its legal battle with Apple.

Apple is arguing that a settlement with Qualcomm could be detrimental to China's mobile industry.

Jurgen Klopp escapes ban but handed FA fine after Origi goal celebration
They look like they could nick a result here or there but you can't say that about Burnley at the moment. The days of rolling over and being frightened have gone, I only see improvement in this Everton team.

Apple says Qualcomm's patent claim can be undone with a software patch, and it is planning to do just that next week. There are more than a dozen lawsuits around the globe that both the companies are meddling with each other.
