Partnering with a high-end sports vehicle company seems to be the new thing for manufacturers, Huawei have partnered with Porsche for some time, while OPPO went with Lamborghini for their Find X launch, now OnePlus has chosen luxury sports auto maker McLaren for their partnership, producing the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition. Packing a rather excessive-seeming 10GB of RAM, the latest addition to the OnePlus stable rocks not only a headline-grabbing amount of memory (which is probably the point), but also the incredibly fast Warp Charge 30 charging system... and a $699 price tag. Warp Charge 30 takes fast charging to new heights and never leaves people wanting, offering a day's power in just 20 minutes.
The device is based on the OnePlus 6T, but packs 10GB of RAM and features McLaren branding on the chassis.
The back is also created to let light streak across it, and the bottom edge is "Papaya Orange" (McLaren's signature color), a shade which streaks part way up the sides before disappearing.
OnePlus has partnered with EE in Europe to launch the 5G phone next year, although the device will also be available for other wireless networks around the world.
OnePlus has changed the special edition's design slightly to represent McLaren. Moreover, the top-end version of OnePlus 6T with 8GB RAM & 256GB internal storage retails at Rs 52,500.
OnePlus has provided 256GB of onboard storage on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.
As for the design, the phone comes with Papaya Orange accent finish that races around the bottom edge of the device before fading into the black color. The phone will feature a 5G antenna that will use a portion of the spectrum known as sub-6, the report says, which OnePlus says it's easier to deploy than the mmWave part of the spectrum that delivers the highest 5G speeds over a shorter range than sub-6. The smartphone sports a 6.41-inch full-HD+ display with 1080x2340 pixel resolution with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
You also get an orange USB Type-C cable, Type-C to 3.5mm adapter, case and a glass cube with an actual carbon fibre McLaren logo inside for a touch of desk bling potential (or extra clutter).
There is also the McLaren logo on the back, with papaya orange branding. Many will consider this overkill, but OnePlus insists that it means "faster performance" and will enable you to "multitask to your heart's content".
