NASA plans to return to the moon with the help of private companies

NASA looks to outsource Moon delivery services

In addition to Firefly Aerospace Agency has selected Lockheed Martin, Astrobotic, Masten Space Systems and Moon Express, Draper, Intuitive Machines, Deep Space Systems.

No money has changed hands yet, but over the next 10 years Commercial Lunar Payload Services Program aims to send at least two landers to the moon per year, with an overall budget of $2.6 billion.

Jim Bridenstein, the Nasa administrator, suggested that Mr Musk, an entrepreneur who is financing commercial space exploration, had acted inappropriately given his role with the company.

Near the other end of the corporate spectrum is Orbit Beyond, a small company with plans to develop a series of lunar landers. NASA explained to TheBlaze that all of these companies were now on contract with the agency, and that NASA would look at "cost, schedule and technical feasibility" when it came to issuing task orders for specific missions. The mission aims to prove SLS is safe and reliable by sending an uncrewed Orion spacecraft around the moon and back to Earth.

I answered Mueller questions 'very easily'
Even as Trump mused in the West Wing about making staffing changes, he pushed back against media coverage of his recent setbacks. He said some were "unnecessary", some were "possible traps" and that "we might consider some as irrelevant".

Apart from building a human colony on Mars, scientists are also planning to build up a colony on the moon, and as per Russian scientists they will make it happen within 20 years.

Private companies - instead of NASA - will lead the race back to the moon, with launch target dates set for 2019 - the 50 anniversary of the first manned moon landing.

Bridenstine said NASA wants the companies to succeed, but "is certain some of the efforts will fail", AP reported. This image of the moon was taken above Newfoundland from the International Space Station. Some of its current technology developments include a universal reentry vehicle and a lunar lander.

NASA along with Musk's SpaceX and Boeing is developing transportation systems that would allow the U.S. to fly astronauts from American soil for the first time since the space shuttle was retired in 2011. In a news release, NASA said that "w$3 orking with USA companies is the next step to achieving long-term scientific study and human exploration of the Moon and Mars".

Criminal defense attorney explains how Mueller just outsmarted Trump and Rudy Giuliani
In September, Manafort pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice and one count of conspiracy against the US. That means the judge overseeing his case will learn, in detail, of Manafort's alleged efforts to mislead investigators.

Bridenstine confirmed he ordered safety reviews of SpaceX and Boeing, another NASA contractor, after Musk smoked on the podcast, but he said that was always the plan.

Elon Musk has been warned by Nasa's most senior figure not to repeat his weed-smoking, whisky-drinking antics on a recent podcast if he wants to continue working with the space agency. NASA expects to be one of many patrons using the services.

Zurbuchen said Thursday that a mobile lunar laboratory remains one of NASA's goals for Moon exploration, though such a mission would likely be developed through a more traditional process.
