The Australian women's team defeated Pakistan by 64 runs in the first T20 of the three-match series at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Malaysia on Thursday.

Australia have been humiliated by Pakistan in the T20 series-opener, slumping to a 66-run defeat after being skittled for just 89. Nathan Coulter-Nile's 34 helped Australia go past its previous lowest T20 score of 79 made against England at Southampton in 2005 before he was the last man to be dismissed. A target of 196 was always going to be daunting for Pakistan and they lost their first wicket in the opening over of the chase to make matters worse.

Australia: Aaron Finch (c), Mitch Marsh (vc), Alex Carey (vc), Ashton Agar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Chris Lynn, Nathan Lyon, Glenn Maxwell, Ben McDermott, Darcy Short, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Mitch Starc, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa.

Their T20 skipper Aaron Finch said his team was motivated enough to win the series. The second wicket stand between Babar and Mohammad Hafeez (39), top scorer in his country's first ever t20 worldwide, against England at Bristol in 2006, prospered and took the score to 105 in the 14 over and their side well on course to reach the 200 mark.

The second and the third matches will be played in Dubai on Friday and Sunday. "I think we were a little bit one-dimensional while batting, but that s a learning experience and I would say Pakistan have got a lot of variety in their bowling".
