SA Constitutional Court Says Using And Growing Mbanje For Private Use Is Legal

South Africa’s Constitutional Court has ruled that personal use of marijuana is not a criminal offence

In March past year, the Western Cape High Court ruled that personal use of marijuana (that's Dagga to you and me) should be legal, declaring that bans on the usage of dagga by adults in private homes are unconstitutional.

In the meantime‚ the court specified it has granted interim relief that allows personal use at home.

SA's Constitutional Court has now handed down its own decision, which should be the final say in the matter: Forget 4/20, it looks like 9/18 will be a more significant number for South African smokers now.

"We have used cannabis to treat anxiety, colic in children and as an antiseptic in secret for many years", said Phephsile Maseko, of the Traditional Healers Organisation.

These are all popular misconceptions and people should inform themselves with the truth.

Hof, diplomat in residence at Bard College in NY and State Department special adviser on Syria during the Obama administration. The White Helmets, a team of first responders, said it also recorded the four killed in Abdeen.

Parliament is now expected to amend the laws that criminalise cannabis following the court ruling.

It has declared them invalid.

This also extended to cultivating cannabis in a private place for personal consumption in private.

Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo said the law banning marijuana use by adults was unconstitutional.

While illegal, marijuana is an important cash crop for rural communities, particularly in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.

The utility said it was "working with the appropriate authorities to investigate this incident in order to understand its cause". Not all of the fires have been fully extinguished yet, Mayor Dan Rivera said at a 00:30 local (04:30 GMT) press conference.

"Davis' order had confined the declaration of invalidity to private adult use at home, while the Constitutional Court did not limit it to use at home".

At the moment, possessing, growing or using marijuana - even in small quantities - can technically lead to jail time, a fine and a criminal record.

But what exactly does private use entail?

In April Zimbabwe became the second country in Africa, after Lesotho, to legalise the use of marijuana for medical use.
