An armed robber was too talkative for a judge's liking during a sentencing hearing - so he ordered the robber's mouth taped shut.

Williams was sentenced to 24 years in prison for aggravated robbery, kidnapping and misuse of credit cards.

According to the Daily Mail, Williams spoke over the judge and ignored multiple warnings to remain quiet. Williams reportedly even interrupted his own attorneys. "More than not, he continued to speak over me and others in the courtroom".

This is the moment a judge in the United States ordered his sheriff deputies to tape a defendant's mouth shut during trial.

According to authorities, Williams cut his ankle bracelet and disappeared to Nebraska in the middle of his trial past year.

"At this point, I'm going to hear from your lawyers, and that means zip it", said Russo.

The defendant, 32-year-old Franklyn Williams, was accused of robbery, Cleveland.com reported. "Don't talk. Mr. Williams, it would be very simple to gag you".

"I'm the judge in the matter", Judge John Russo eventually told him. "More importantly when I was talking", Russo said. "But we can't do it at the same time or yelling over each other", he said. "Zip it until I give you a chance to talk".

Some on social media weren't so sure, and said they felt it was wrong.
