Rhames, who can now be seen as part of the ensemble of "Mission: Impossible - Fallout", revealed that a police officer pointed a gun at him as he stood on the doorstep to his home in Santa Monica, California.

Rhames said he was chilling at home watching ESPN when he answered the door and was confronted by cops. They say put up your hands, literally, ' he said.

When asked about experiences of racism in his own life, Rhames explained that a neighbour called 911 to report a "large black man" breaking in to his house, which led armed officers to show up, out of the blue, on his doorstep.

"The captain of police - and you can check with the Santa Monica Police Department - he recognized me because my son played against his [son's] school", Rhames said. When police provided the address of that neighbour, Rhames says, he and an officer visited that person - who then denied making the call.

Though police apologized to Rhames for the incident, he said it instilled in him fear for his children's safety. "I have a screen door and then I have a wooden door".
