Faith Rodgers also claims to have epilepsy and is accusing R. Kelly of plying her with alcohol, knowing that it aggravated her "epileptic condition".

The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, claims that Rodgers met the 51-year-old R&B star after a concert in San Antonio last March when she was 19.

Rodgers' lawsuit against the singer alleges that Kelly "routinely engaged in intimidation, mental, verbal and sexual abuse, during and after sexual contact", The New York Times reports. They began to message each other frequently until R. Kelly flew her to one of his shows in NY.

In May 2017, Faith says R Kelly flew her to NY to attend one of his concerts.

R. Kelly's management had no comment on the allegations when reached out to by EW. He has always been the target of sexual misconduct allegations, which he has denied.

That case was settled out of court - as was a suit brought in 2001 by former Epic Records intern Tracy Sampson, who claimed she began a sexual relationship with the singer when she was 17.

"Unfortunately, the facts and background of this case are not unique", the lawsuit says.

R. Kelly has been sued for sexual assault amid several weeks of bad press.

Popular American singer-songwriter R Kelly has been accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman. Not just, you know, he's demanding me to do this. It's too late. They shoulda did this sh*t 30 years ago.

The same lawsuit details that Rodgers went on to date Kelly for one year, and during that time, she alleges he locked her in rooms and cars as punishment for "failing to fulfil his sexual desires", while using a female assistant stand guard to keep Rodgers from escaping, according to TMZ. "Sex isn't something, you know, I'm ready for", she said.

A representative for the singer said in April that he "categorically denies all claims and allegations" in the lawsuit.

Kelly, who has won multiple Grammys, sold close to 30 million albums and has written hits for Michael Jackson, CĂ©line Dion, Aaliyah and more, has crafted pop anthems and love songs, but he is defined by sexually explicit songs such as Feelin' on Yo Booty, Your Body's Calling Me, Sex Me and even more explicit fare.
