US/NKorea summit likely within weeks

Trump Things changed radically with N Korea

North Korea has said through Seoul it will shut down its nuclear testing site. Pyongyang also invited United States weapons experts to visit the country.

US President Donald Trump said Saturday that "things are going very well" after talking with South Korea's President Moon Jae-in about an upcoming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he spoke with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Saturday morning over the impending summit with North Korea.

"I believe that one of the reasons that Kim Jong-un is engaged in this conversation is that the pressure campaign that has been applied by President Trump, and indeed by the world, has put them in an even more tenuous, more hard position".

Japan - a key USA ally in Asia - has long maintained a hardline position on negotiations with Pyongyang, but has found itself left on the sidelines of the recent whirlwind diplomatic activity.

On Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the U.S. is "not going to take the North Koreans at their word". He's going to continue to make them.

It should be noted that the leaders of North Korea and South Korea met Friday for the first time in over a decade.

In an interview with Jonathan Karl aired Sunday on ABC's "This Week", Pompeo said the "goal" of his meeting with Kim "was to try and identify if there was a real opportunity there".

Pompeo, who is now in the Middle East on his first trip as Washington's chief diplomat, described Kim as "very well prepared" during their secret meeting, which took place over Easter weekend to set the groundwork for a historic summit meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Kim said there were two additional, larger tunnels that remain "in a very good condition" at the Punggye-ri test site beyond the existing one, which experts have said has collapsed after repeated explosions, rendering much of the site useless.

Ronny Jackson Returns to White House Medical Unit
The records also say the White House medical unit Jackson ran successfully passed regular controlled substance audits. The president later called for Tester to resign for what he said are allegations that remain unconfirmed.

North Korea's state media said before the summit that Pyongyang would focus on economic growth and peace in lieu of conducting nuclear weapons tests. "We've seen some steps in the right direction, but we have a long way to go".

Kim denied claims that North Korea is closing down "an unusable test site", according to the office.

"Then we talked a great deal about what it might look like, what this complete, verifiable, irreversible mechanism might look like", he said. Pyongyang is demanding as yet unspecified security guarantees to discuss its arsenal.

The announcement came three days after the leaders of the two Koreas agreed to work together to achieve a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and end hostile acts against each other along their border during their rare summit talks.

In light of the peace treaty with his South Korean counterpart, Kim Jong-un pledged to eradicate the "unique time zone" he created in Pyongyang in 2015 and will wind its clocks forward by 30 minutes to sync with the South.

They're using a recently released trailer and teaser clip as their guide to understanding some of what this season could be about. The video shows several cast members along with photos that reveal a darker side to their personality.

"Only time will tell if we can get that done", Pompeo told Karl. "Since it is us who changed the time standard, we will return to the original one".
