Fitbit and Google team to use machine learning on your fitness data

Fitbit will use Google Cloud to make its data available to doctors

In a new collaboration with Google, Fitbit is hoping to enhance its healthcare credibility.

Some privacy and security experts, however, say that while details of the collaboration haven't been fully disclosed, the partnership between Fitbit and Google appears to raise a number of potential security, privacy and perhaps even patient safety questions.

The companies will also work on improving how chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension, are managed by using services such as Fitbit's recently acquired Twine Health.

Google and Fitbit have teamed up to improve the way fitness trackers handle user health data, EconomicTimes reported.

To initiate the partnership, Fitbit will utilize the Google Cloud Platform.

Doctors would then be able to actively monitor all their patients' data from anywhere.

Google has announced that it will partner with Fitbit to increase its focus in the healthcare sector. Working together provides an exciting opportunity to leverage Fitbit's leading wearables brand, community, data, and popular devices alongside Google's expertise in building platforms, software and services. Also fitting into the scheme of things would be the companies that actually manufacture the wearable devices.
