Lawyers for Trump's Personal Attorney Set for Friday Court Appearance

Michael Cohen is a fraud of a lawyer who works exclusively for President Trump, federal prosecutors charged Friday.

Trump's threats to fire Mueller or the deputy attorney general overseeing the investigation, Rod Rosenstein, grew louder this week when the FBI raided Cohen's home, hotel room and office on Monday. And they help explain why Mr. Trump was furious about the raid. Davidson said Cohen argued that the women had waived attorney-client privilege by going public with their stories.

A federal prosecutor's office says there will be a hearing Friday to address a temporary restraining order sought by Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

The uncertainty around what was taken has heightened the unease around Trump, whose lawyers had projected confidence in their dealings with the special counsel, Robert Mueller, but were caught flat-footed by the extraordinary raids on Cohen.

However, on April 9, federal agents executed search warrants against Cohen as part of an ongoing criminal investigation - leading to the request to put the civil case brought by Daniels on hold.

Prosecutors also confirmed in a court filing on Friday that they have been investigating Cohen for months, largely over his business dealings rather than his legal work.

Cohen, who has denied wrongdoing, has been at the center of a controversy surrounding a $130,000 payment to Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.

"Although Cohen is an attorney, he also has several other business interests and sources of income". Justice Department regulations require prosecutors to have a "taint team" not involved in the underlying investigation to sift through seized materials and make sure prosecutors don't see things that aren't relevant or are protected by lawyer-client privilege.

Another source tells CNN that in at least one conversation between the two men, "Cohen was being unusually simplistic, like he had bullet points that he was reading from to try and make himself look good".

Cohen's lawyers, for their part, have asked to review the material for themselves, a proposal which the Manhattan prosecutors are fighting.

The new details from the warrant reveal that prosecutors are keenly interested in Mr. Cohen's unofficial role in the Trump campaign. The hearing was set for Monday afternoon. Trump tweeted earlier Wednesday in a message aimed at Russian officials. "The president has a number of options at his disposal". Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he hopes "common sense" will prevail in an increasingly "chaotic" world.

On Monday, Cohen's attorney called the searches "completely inappropriate and unnecessary".

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said she spoke by telephone with Broidy, and "he tendered his resignation".

CNN also reported that Trump called Cohen on Friday.

Harrison's assertion that Cohen's documents included privileged communications involving Cohen as both an attorney and a client did not, McKay argued, validate that claim.

Cohen denied that he'd ever been to Prague "in my life" after the dossier's publication, tweeting a photo of his passport.
