Emily Blunt Admits She Fell For John Krasinski At First Sight

NEW YORK - John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place" made a thunderous debut at the box office, opening with $50 million in ticket sales and rumbling to the year's second-best weekend after "Black Panther", according to studio estimates Sunday. Another reason for its success is the fact that Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are not only married, but both have strong fan bases, stemming from Blunt's films, and Krasinski's time as the loveable Jim Harper on The Office.

Of all the incredible movies she's been in (Edge of Tomorrow being my favorite), her new role in Quiet Place most closely resembles her leading turn in Girl on the Train. At least six senior Paramount executives have been replaced in the past year. As such, while some early practitioners and theorists of film celebrated the dawn of the sound era and the increased verisimilitude it brought, many others did not. The film only dropped 40 percent during its second weekend. Already the highest-grossing superhero film in United States history, its cumulative total in the USA and Canada now exceeds US$665 million. And it did just pass Frozen in order to enter the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time worldwide.

Produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, the film stars Leslie Mann and John Cena and was directed by "Pitch Perfect" scribe Kay Cannon, making it the rare R-rated comedy helmed by a woman.

Sinclair Reporter To Trump: Attacking Independent Media Is Not Funny
The headline was: "How America's Leading Local TV Owner Turned Its News Anchors Into Soldiers In Trump's War On The Media". The anchors give no specific examples. "It illustrates a story that in some cases can read like a conspiracy theory".

The weekend's other big release, Universal Pictures' Blockers, performed about as expected and delivered a third place finish. While the movie's "B" CinemaScore isn't great, we can probably expect it to do well even as colleges get back from spring break.

It is now only behind the grosses of James Cameron's Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens which grossed $760 million and $936 million respectively in North America. That's enough to land it the second highest domestic opening of the year to date behind "Black Panther", which opened in February with $202 million. The degree of positive response "A Quiet Place" is getting, is so magnificent that it has become Paramount's best non-sequel opening weekend in nearly five years.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular films in the US and Canada this weekend, as estimated by the studios and collated by comScore, were "Tyler Perry's Acrimony" ($8 million), "Chappaquiddick" (opening with $6.2 million), "Sherlock Gnomes" ($5.6 million), "Pacific Rim Uprising" ($4.9 million) and "Isle of Dogs" ($4.6 million). The controversial drama also exceeded all expectations with $5.8 million or $3.6k per theater. It's moving, it's inventive, it's unlike anything you've ever seen. Wow!

Marshals Service in Anderson, Mo., on a manslaughter charge, according to a release from the Faulkner County sheriff's office. The suspect ran into the backyard of a home on Irvington Drive and the vehicle continued until it hit a fence.

Isle of Dogs (US$4.6 million). $4.6 million, bringing its total to $12 million before its nationwide expansion this coming Friday.

Not a bad weekend at all for moviegoers around the country! The well received movie had one of the best openings in April this weekend. The Arclight Hollywood in L.A. greatly helped with that average as Phoenix introduced or did QnAs after nearly every single screening, which is a rarity as far as these things go. Quite honestly many horror movies are created to make people scream even if the intent to avoid the killer or the monsters is to remain quiet in the hopes that they'll leave and go seek mayhem elsewhere. Horror movies aren't known for legs but they also aren't known for large budgets.
