TeH Chief Sehrai's son missing for over 24 hours, went for Friday prayers, hasn't returned
The development comes days after Geelani handed the baton of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat to Sehrai, one of the few men who have worked with Geelani for decades, after the group's executive council choose Sehrai as its chairman.
Hours after the complaint, a picture emerged on social media platforms showing Khan holding an AK-47 rifle.
Soon, the pictures of Junaid (26), started to appear on social media brandishing a gun, giving rise to suspicion that he has joined the militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
Statement said the participants in the meeting condemned the frequent detention of APHC (M) leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza in police station Sheerbagh terming. This is the first time that the son of a senior separatist leader of the stature of Sehrai has joined the militancy in Kashmir.
Sources close to Sehrai family said, Junaid Ashraf Khan, left for Friday prayers near his house in Baghat locality and has not returned since.
Police are closely monitoring the case in the light of a Kashmiri student from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Mannan Wani, disappearing and reportedly ending up with Hizbul Mujahideen in January.
Junaid holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Kashmir University.Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir S P Pani told The New Indian Express that police has registered a missing complaint and launched investigation. "We are working on it and a confirmation will be made soon", sources said. Geelani relinquished his post after 14 years and an election paved way for Sehrai's anointment.
In an interview with the Greater Kashmir, Sehrai had said that ISIS/Daesh and such ideologies will never be accepted. He urged youth not to get swayed by the extremist ideology and understand Islam in its correct perspective.
