Feinstein and challenger battle for coveted California Dems endorsement

She did not get the endorsement from the Democratic Party. DIANNE FEINSTEIN (D-CA) fail to get the CALIFORNIA Democratic Party's endorsement against likely primary challenger KEVIN DE LEÓN, the CALIFORNIA State Senate leader.

Instead, delegates at the party's annual convention gave the majority of votes-54 percent-to progressive state Sen.

Feinstein, the oldest member of the Senate at 84, is seeking a sixth term.

N terms SC verdict against basic principles of justice
Ruling PML-N, analysts react to SC judgement that renders a disqualified person ineligible to hold party head's office. However, decisions taken by Sharif will be nullified, including tickets issued by him for the Senate elections.

Throughout her career, including when she served as mayor of San Francisco, Ms. Feinstein has been more of a centrist and has struggled for support in the most liberal wing of the party. Behind in the polls by an average of twenty-five points with nine months to go, de Leon milked Feinstein's defeat for all it was worth. "They reminded more than 3,000 activists gathered this weekend that President Donald Trump is their common enemy". De Leon explained his rationale for breaking with protocol and challenging Feinstein, saying, "I'm running for the United States Senate because the days of Democrats biding our time, biting our tongue, and triangulating at the margins are over". But she still won the nomination in the primary.

But the party was fractured.

Party leaders also implored activists to rally behind one candidate in U.S. House races with as many as seven Democratic hopefuls, warning a failure to unite could boost Republicans. It took Feinstein a while before she chose to vote against a spending bill last December and last January in order to show her protest over the Trump administration's immigration policy. "California Democrats are hungry for new leadership that will fight for California values from the front lines, not equivocate on the sidelines".
