Emma Chambers, 'Vicar of Dibley' actress, dies at 53

British actress Emma Chambers, who was best known for her roles in TV comedy The Vicar Of Dibley and the movie Notting Hill, has died aged 53.

A statement from her agent said that Chambers died from natural causes and would be "greatly missed".

He said: "Emma created a wealth of characters and an huge body of work".

"She brought laughter and joy to many, and will be greatly missed".

The Doncaster-born actress is survived by her husband, Ian Dunn.

Broadcaster Emma Freud, who is married to Curtis, was among one of the first to pay tribute to the couple's "beautiful friend".

Chambers played the character of Alice Tinker, a village church verger, in The Vicar of Dibley between 1994 and 2007, alongside Dawn French in the title role.

Chambers reached global audiences with her role as Honey Thacker in the 1999 rom-com Notting Hill, starring alongside Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.

Hugh Grant - who starred opposite Chambers in the hit film Notting Hill- called news of her death "very sad".
