Winter Olympics boost NBC to No
Coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Thursday was down in the Nielsen ratings for the second straight night.

The events will be broadcast on NBC and NBCSN (all times Eastern). The programming block on NBC, beginning at 8 p.m. ET and running for about three hours will include the beginning of the men's solo figure skating, with Nathan Chen front and center in the short program. ER averaged 22.1 million viewers, while The West Wing was averaging 17.2 million. The strongest competition came from CBS' "60 Minutes" with 7.5 million viewers, "America's Funniest Home Videos" on ABC with 5 million and CBS' "Big Brother: Celebrity Edition" with 4.7 million. NBC offered the Super Bowl and drew on such hits as "Sunday Night Football", "The Voice" and "This Is Us". NBC had set aside some advertising to give to advertisers in the event of weak ratings and the need to "make good" on audience promises. That is also down approximately 10 percent from the 14.4 rating drawn by the the comparable night during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, which aired only on NBC.
The story reports that through February 11 NBC has averaged 9.569 million total viewers, vs. 9.385 million for CBS.
