Google Pixel Phones Record Poor Sales Numbers: Can Pixel 3 Save?

15 February 2018, 12:25 | Antoinette Holland

Google Pixel shipments doubled yet still, only 3.9 million units were moved in 2017

Google shipped 3.9 million Pixel phones last year, IDC says

Google launched the first Pixel phone in October 2016 and followed it up with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

This number includes the Pixel smartphones and the Pixel 2 released near the end of 2017.

Google has shipped 3.9 million units of its Pixel devices as of 2017, according to IDC's Francisco Jeronimo.

North Korea says U.S. is considering attacking them
NORTH Korean tyrant Kim Jong-un is overweight because he used to be a hardcore WEIGHTLIFTER, it has been claimed. North Korea's most widely distributed state-owned newspaper wrote following the State of the Union address.

Even HMD Global, which began selling Nokia-branded smartphones previous year, sold more phones than Google.

However, IDC's recent numbers reveal Google still has some way to go, before it reaches market leader status.

The Pixel range debuted in 2016 and got a refresh late past year, which brought us the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, so it's a relatively new brand when compared to iPhone and Galaxy S. Its availability is also limited to a handful of markets.

UAE- Soon, Instagram to alert you when your story is screenshot
Instagram has started testing a new feature that alerts users when someone tries to snap a screenshot of the stories they share. This, means that users will be safe from the star icon, the first time they attempt to take a shot of someone's InstaStory.

We're using Apple as an example not just because the two companies are frequent rivals, but also because Apple offers the closest product lineup to Google, with only a handful of high-end models. The plan for Pixel is ambitious, but it may already be too late - Google should have built its own phones years ago.

To really drive home how puny Pixel sales were: It only took Apple 6.5 days and Samsung 4.4 days to sell the same number of phones.

Though there are undoubtedly many reasons why Pixel sales were so disappointing, the most problematic is its lack of retail presence.

By highlighting this issue on the global stage, it is their plan to apply greater pressure on the North. U.S.] is now raising the alarm that human rights violations in North Korea are serious".

Why Can't Google Pixel Catch Up To The iPhone? Apple also has deals with all the major carriers in the United States, putting iPhones in even more retail locations with even more salespeople. That's including both the original, first-generation Pixel handsets and the Pixel 2 second-generation which launched later in the year. Carrier deals make a huge difference in a country where nearly all phones are sold via carriers. That said, the company is quickly picking up ground with its Pixel lineup, with sales in the past year doubling. HMD is now the world's sixth largest smartphone vendor.
