Report: Bulls Trade Jameer Nelson to Pistons for Willie Reed

Chicago Bulls trade Jameer Nelson to the Detroit Pistons

According to a report from Yahoo Sports, the Pistons are largely making the trade to address some of the issues they had at guard this season. Nelson played for Van Gundy with the Orlando Magic from 2007-12 and provides veteran leadership and more depth at point guard, behind Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith. James Ennis, who was also acquired by the Pistons, will not be available after getting stuck in bad weather today.

Jameer Nelson was traded for the second time in seven days on Thursday, going from the Chicago Bulls to the Detroit Pistons in a deal that reunited the point guard with former coach Stan Van Gundy. He played in Chicago for just a week and is already on the move, again, to the #Detroit Pistons in exchange for big man Willie Reed.

Maryland child has died from the flu, state health officials confirm
Missouri Health Department officials say 9,566 new cases of flu have been reported across the state as of Saturday, January 27. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said hospitalizations related to the flu could exceed 700,000.

Later in the after, the Bulls waived the 27-year-old Reed, who was averaging 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game in 42 games this season.

Reed is now serving a six-game suspension without pay for a domestic violence incident that involved his wife. The Pistons and Bills will also swap second round picks in 2022. He averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 assists and shot 36 percent on 3-pointers in roughly 21 minutes per game. Willie Reed was sent to Detroit in the Griffin trade. He is in the last year of the two-year, $6 million contract he signed with the Grizzlies in July 2016. With this deal the Pistons have now traded away both players who came along with Blake Griffin in last month's trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.

On Tuesday, White House chief of staff John Kelly threw fuel on the dispute as he defended Trump's proposed solution. The deal pairs the boost in defense spending with a roughly equal increase in domestic spending.
