Evacuation orders in Thomas fire zone Los Angeles Times
Five of the bodies were found in Montecito, near Los Angeles, said Captain Dave Zaniboni of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
DeGeneres also posted how she loves "being part of the Montecito community".
The death toll remains at 15, with 24 people missing.
Evacuation orders were issued Monday as forecasters predicted mudslides in areas where the state's largest fire raged last month. Southern California was also the site of tremendous wildfires in December 2017 that killed two people, destroyed 300 acres of forest and caused $3 billion in damages - making them the most destructive fires in California history.
Montecito, one of the areas hardest hit by the mudslides, is a wealthy enclave of about 9,000 people - and home to celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Rob Lowe and Ellen DeGeneres. Several homes were swept away before dawn Tuesday when mud and debris roared into neighborhoods in Montecito from hillsides stripped of vegetation during the Thomas wildfire.
Many places will require days of work for the clean-up to be finished and the costs of fix are likely to be significant with the extensive damage to many multi.million dollar properties, some of whom only just escaped destruction in the fires before being hit by this flooding.
Officials say Highway 121 between Wild Horse Valley Road and Wooden Valley Road remains closed.
In an interview with CBS on Wednesday morning, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said officials are continuing to work to identify and rescue those who are trapped in areas they haven't been able to reach yet.
