Bristol Salvation Army thousands short of red kettle goal

The Salvation Army in Springfield says $350,000 is still needed to meet this year's Tree of Lights campaign goal.

Now, they just need to raise just $12,500 each day, Friday and Saturday, to make it.

"We are 20 percent behind schedule, so this is going to help get us where we need to go", Chapman said.

"It's very crucial to have the money raised this time of year because it doesn't just affect our Christmas work, it also affects the work we do all year round".

"This is the most giving town I've ever seen", O'Mara said as a young girl dropped some change into the donation kettle.

"We still have a ways to go toward our goal", Frost said.
