CBS blackout ends for 4 million Dish Network customers following Thanksgiving truce

On the site, Dish alleges CBS is asking the satellite operator to pay "more than 50 percent higher than what we now pay to carry this channel".

Dish had offered free digital antennas and installation to its subscribers in the affected markets so they could continue to watch CBS programming and gave them the option to drop their local channels from their programming package, saving $10 on their monthly bill.

Dish Network subscribers once again have access to CBS following the brief service blackout resulting from an expired contract between the two.

Canada's decision to decline TPP agreement shouldn't be surprising: Trudeau
The official disputes the notion it was a snub because the leaders would mingle at APEC events over the next 24 hours anyway. Canada's representatives were at the meeting and appear to have re-entered talks.

CBS fired back in its statement Wednesday, claiming that Dish Network is "desperate to retain subscribers" and "clearly, pulling content providers off the air is Dish's way of doing things". Dish added that "terms of the agreement were not disclosed".

The multi-year agreement covers CBS-owned stations across the country plus CBS-owned cable networks CBS Sports Netwokr, Pop and Smithsonian Channel.

The CBS blackout on Dish came amid much tension between network owners like CBS and pay-TV distributor such as Dish. The blackout of CBS programming via Dish Network had a serious impact on several major markets including New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta and Boston.

The dispute had affected 18 markets, where CBS signals had been pulled from Dish services.

DISH had refused the amount of money that CBS had attempted to command for its programming, infuriating the broadcaster who had noted that the satellite operator had reached a carriage agreement with a one other cable network more than double its asking price, for what CBS asserted was "far less" than half the ratings. At the same time, CBS and other content companies have asked for huge increases in the fees they receive for their programming to pay for rising sports rights fees and other programming costs.
