Olympian Aly Raisman Claims Gymnastics Physician Sexually Assaulted Her At 15

Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman said she was sexually abused by former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, according to her upcoming interview on CBS' "60 Minutes".

Now 23, Raisman told "60 Minutes" that she started seeing Nassar when she was 15. In the interview, Raisman said she didn't know why it took so long for allegations against Nassar to come forward. He pleaded guilty to child pornography charges but not guilty to charges of sexual assault.

Raisman is not the first gymnast to accuse Nassar of abuse.

A law enforcement official said Kadirov was a friend of suspect Sayfullo Saipov's and may not have any role in the case. Kadirov is not considered a suspect and it is unclear what connection he may have, authorities said.

Raisman's allegations follow allegations from teammate McKayla Maroney, a two-time Olympic medalist who accused Nassar of sexually abusing her throughout her career. Nassar, who was USA Gymnastics' team doctor for almost two decades, was sacked in 2015 and is facing nearly two dozen sexual assault charges against him; he's also set to be sentenced next month on three federal child pornography charges. The former athlete, who claims to be "angry", wants to "just bring change" so that young gymnasts "never have to live this again". The book, scheduled to release next week, will include her experiences with the alleged abuse.

More than 140 women are now suing Nassar and his former employer, Michigan State University.

"I was molested by Dr. Larry Nassar, the team doctor for the US Women's National Gymnastics Team, and Olympic team", Maroney wrote in the Twitter post under the #MeToo hashtag, which has remained a trending topic on social media after a number of women accused Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault in October.

Raisman continued after Jon Lapook of "60 Minutes" noted her anger. "USA Gymnastics is very sorry that any athlete has been harmed..." the statement said. USA Gymnastics hired Kerry Perry as its new president and CEO on Tuesday after president Steve Penny resigned in March after 12 years on the job. The organization says it recently adopted a new "safe sport policy" that requires "mandatory reporting" of suspicions of sexual abuse and also sets standards to "prevent inappropriate interaction" between athletes and adults.

Apps like Snapchat, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram have been increasingly "borrowing" features off one another. Hints of developing the feature, which is now available on Facebook Messenger, was spotted in a blog recently.

However, Nassar also faces a handful of other criminal charges stemming from the accusations.
