Philippe Coutinho Liverpool Barcelona news

Barcelona are ready to mount a new bid for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho in January, the club said on Wednesday.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently suggested that the club would not make a new attempt to sign him in January due to the Reds' high demands.

Coutinho has started the last three league games for Liverpool after missing the start of the season with a back injury.

Killed in Marseille in 'Likely Terrorist Act'
Last month, four female American college students were sprayed with hydrochloric acid at the Saint Charles station. The 41-year-old woman who attacked them was later arrested and police said she had a "psychiatric history".

Barcelona enjoyed a fruitless pursuit of Brazil worldwide Coutinho in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool rejecting a final bid from the Catalans that was believed to be in excess of 120million euros.

Barcelona may have to get closer to Liverpool's £183m valuation if they are to sign the player, but until that happens, Liverpool could well do without the distraction as they prepare for their biggest match of the season so far.

Former Spurs forward Crooks urged Klopp to finally improve Liverpool's defence if the Reds want to keep Coutinho in their squad in the long-term.

Death toll rises to 15 in Balochistan shrine blast
Sarfraz Bugto, the provincial home minister, said "terrorists have shown their inhumaneness by attacking innocent civilians". DPO Jhal Magsi said a constable was killed while attempting to stop the suicide bomber from entering the shrine.

However, several reports in Spain are claiming that the La Liga giants do plan to revive the pursuit in January as manager Ernesto Valverde is still keen on adding the Brazilian ace to his ranks.

Yet despite Grau's comments, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague remains doubtful that Barça will actually submit a bid for the Brazilian in January.

He stated: "The sale of Neymar allowed us to get into the market and take some players we wanted".
