Las Vegas shooter researched hotels near Fenway Park, report says

Stephen Paddock, the 64-year-old perpetrator of the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, may have considered other targets in Chicago, Las Vegas, and Boston before he ultimately carried out his attack in Las Vegas on Sunday night that left 58 people dead and more than 500 injured.

Stephen Paddock researched hotels around Boston's Fenway Park, a senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the matter told NBC News.

Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock may have considered Fenway Park and other Boston-area locations before killing at least 58 people and wounding hundreds more in a mass shooting.

According to the NBC report, Boston police were aware of the reports and were working with federal officials. Officials say there was no evidence Paddock ever went to Chicago that weekend.

NBC News reported that Paddock researched hotels around Fenway Park, according to an anonymous law enforcement official. Numerous hotels researched by Paddock offered views that were heavily obstructed and Paddock eventually gave up on the search.

"That's something that obviously concerns us but right now there's no credible threat that anyone is still out there looking to do anything like that", Evans told reporters on Thursday night.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker says there is no threat to Massachusetts.

On Sunday, Fenway Park will be filled with Sox fans and heightened security, and it's a new reality that is getting mixed reviews.

"We just have information that he was on possible sites looking at Boston there's nothing to indicate he made it here or he ever stepped foot in Boston".
