Mr Bolton is seen as being on the moderate wing of the party in a campaign which was dominated by the presence of Anne Marie Waters, director of Sharia Watch UK and anti-Islam candidate.

'Brexit is our core task, ' he told party supporters on Friday at UKIP's conference in southwest England.

In a recent YouTube campaign film, he complained that "we have gone down the road of mediocracy and compromise, we don't like the idea of excelling of anything because we worry that it implies that somebody is less good".

Amid reports that 18 of its 20 MEPs would tear up their membership if she won, Farage had warned Ukip that would be "finished" if it became anti-Islam.

UKIP has held its third leadership contest since the European Union referendum - with a shortlist of seven candidates taking part.

Without the new evidence, they likely would not have been able to convince a jury of Keen Warren's guilt, they said. Information from the Sun Sentinel , Washington Post and Associated Press was used in this report.

Meanwhile Mr Hamilton insisted that UKIP still had a objective following the referendum vote for Brexit and the collapse in its vote at the general election in June.

The emergence of Ms Waters as a candidate in August prompted MEP Mike Hookem to resign his position as party whip in protest, with the MEP stating that he could not "turn a blind eye" to her "extreme views".

In a sign of UKIP's difficulties, it took Mr Bolton just 3,874 votes to win the leadership election.

The final candidates hoping to turn the party's fortunes around, and ensure Brexit goes ahead, include MEP Jane Collins, Nuttall's former deputy Peter Whittle, London Assembly Member David Kurten, ex-soldier Henry Bolton, John Rees-Evans and Aidan Powlesland - who (genuinely) wants to mine the asteroid belt for minerals.

Asked at a press conference whether that fate had been averted by his victory, Bolton said, "Absolutely, yes".

Church Usher Hailed A 'Hero' After Stopping Gunman
As services were ending Sunday, a former member of the congregation shot and killed a woman who was walking back to her auto . Caleb Engle's grandmother also praised him, saying she is very proud. "It was a good church", said Merritt, 58.

"If you look at the things I've done, you'll see a certain degree of endurance there, both physical, emotional and political", he said.

Nigel said: "He got my vote that was no doubt at all". He said Prime Minister Theresa May's Conservative-led government had so far failed to deliver on the Brexit mandate that voters wanted.

Mr Bolton did, however, signal he could be the latest in a long line of Ukip leaders to act as a scourge of liberals.

He defeated rival Anne Marie Waters, who had provoked controversy with hostile comments about Islam.

After exactly three years as leader, Mr Farage resigned to fight the Buckingham seat of Commons Speaker John Bercow at the 2010 election, subsequently coming third with 17 per cent of the vote.
