The feature film "It" opened Friday.

American horror movie "It" dominated North American box office with an estimated 117.15 million US dollars in its opening weekend. It, a new adaptation of the fantastic Stephen King book after the movie cult of the 90s, has dominated the u.s. box office for its output.

"A terrific start for the Fall moviegoing season after a rather slow Labor Day weekend as 'It'revs up a sleepy marketplace and we look forward to an incredible September at the box office, " wrote movie analyst Paul Dergarabedian at comScore in an email to Xinhua.

Nadal's shadow no hindrance for Spaniard Carreno Busta
I really thought I did a fantastic job resetting". "I think I will let myself enjoy it for the next day". Earlier, Carreno Busta defeated Diego Schwartzman to reach his first Grand Slam singles semi-final.

Warner Bros. also scored the biggest horror movie debut of all-time as well as the second biggest R-rated launch ever trailing just the $132.4M of last year's Deadpool.

Not only does It have an impressive 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a solid score for a horror movie, but the movie is on track to land the largest opening weekend at the box office for any horror movie.

Audience scores are as high as they get for the horror genre so positive word-of-mouth will lead to plenty of more business ahead.

Biggest Earthquake In A Century Rocks Mexico
It also triggered a tsunami warning and the evacuation of thousands of people in coastal communities in Chiapas. The tremor was stronger than the devastating 1985 natural disaster that killed thousands in the Mexico city.

Domestically It took in $117.2m, making it the third biggest opening for a film this year behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ($146.2m) and Beauty and the Beast ($174.8m).

We know we said "10 times", but it's really closer to 13 times (rounding up a little) according to the quick calculation we just ran, which is scarily appropriate for a horror movie, pun fully intended. Other top foreign earners are Annabelle: Creation (US$8.6 million) and The Hitman's Bodyguard (US$7.9 million). This weekend, Homecoming dropped 45.3 percent to bring in another $2 million.

Although "It" has just been released, plans for a second film are already underway. The horror film now holds a 86-percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A handful of hits, like "Despicable Me 3" and Warner's "Wonder Woman", took most of the buzz. Warner Bros. hopes to release the sequel in the fall of 2019. It is part of the popular "Conjuring" series of movies.
